This is the 2nd competition followed by NTT docomo: Railway Fault Detection challenge.
NTT docomo measures various kinds of environmental data at about 4000 observation points all over Japan. Environmental sensor network is constructed with unique observation points by making good use of base station facilities of NTT docomo. UV and pollen data other than data such as temperature, precipitation, humidity, and wind speed is also obtained. Weather and environment give an impact on our social life and business from various aspects and effective use of these data is expected to achieve various kinds of added-values. Also, today, great number of people rely so heavily on electricity that a power outage will have a negative impact on society.
Data
The following 6 kinds of environmental sensor data observed every 10 minutes in the Tokyo metropolitan area (at most 219 obeservation points) for one year and a half, from January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013, is provided as explanatory variables.
・Temperature
・Humidity
・Precipitation
・Wind speed
・Wind direction
・Maximum instantaneous wind speed
The lightning data is also available.
Object variable represents weather a power outage occurred in each of the following 8 perfectures observed every 10 minutes from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012:
・Ibaraki
・Tochigi
